An Avocado Slicer is a tool for making uniform avocado wedges without mooshing any of the avocado. The slices can be used for avocado sandwiches, avocado taosts, avocado salads, and cooking with avocado.
This Avocado Slicer is designed to, in one motion, turn one-half an avocado into slices, and scoop the avocado slices up at the same time as they are cutting.
Some avocado slicers have their cutting parts made of stainless, and handles made of plastic; other avocado slicers are made completely of nylon plastic. The cutting part of the avocado slicer is a somewhat circular or oval band, with spokes through it. Nylon avocado slicers may have spokes coming only part-way into the centre cutting part.
To use the Avocado Slicer, you slice an avocado in half lengthwise, and remove and discard the pit. You then hold the avocado skin-side down in the palm of your hand, broad end away from you. Starting at that end, you insert the Avocado Slicer(squeezing it at the sides to make it more narrow if necessary for the particular avocado you have), and pull down and towards you. You can use a spoon to scoop out any pulp that might be left behind in indents in the shell, etc.
An avocado slicer can also be used for fruit such as kiwi and mangoes.
